Chris: problems with the image at the top right of the TMLSTAP page might be due to a space in the image's name. Really liking a lot of the music selections though. Very Happy

On the rules side: would you consider allowing something like the "Learning from Notes" to let Cunning "retroactively" take skills in something like Craft(Clockwork)? Skills that it would have made sense for the character to have had from the start, but that there weren't really enough skill points left over for after taking those "core" to Rogue (there weren't even enough for things like Climb and Jump really).

EDIT: Also, do Familiars not get the "Share Spells" option under the aleternative rules? (Wizard can have any spell cast upon them also cast upon a familiar with 5ft range for free, for those of you who eschew the PHB.)

IT tips much appreciated, will make some amends tomorrow!

You can't learn from the books retroactively, but you could buy a book now and start learning, which would seem to have much the same in-game effect. (Roleplaying rationales could include Dad agreeing to sell him one of his tomes of clockmaking now he's realised Cunning won't be staying home to learn from pa. If you want to be less mercenary, Cunning could just coincidentally "give" his parents a gift from his loot (of the same value) which moves them to the same line of reasoning) OR you could use the retaining rules to retoractively give yourself the clockwork skills, at the expense of something else, such as diplomacy, which you could then learn from a tome.

For now, I'll say "yes" to the share spells thing, as, checking the source book it's unclear what "core features" of the familiar it doesn't intend to overrule; and because there doesn't seem to be any way of choosing that option, and it seems unlikely they wouod want to prohibit it.

Not trying to tell people what to do; but as I see it, the next couple of weeks are likely to go like this:

This week those of us in the Monday games (i.e. not the Wednesday Game night at Travelling Man), we can spend the 20th on character creation for either Ptolus or alternatve characters for STAP. I'll bring whatever books I can manage (although, obviously, not a PHB!)

I'll suffer Mark's wrath for making rules calls on what's allowed in his game (I'll be more conservative than in mine, though!)

Wednesday this week (22nd) would seem to be nothing for either Dwarves of Ptolus or Shadowrun (unless Simon corrects me on that), but as it is games night, and the venue is open, general board/card games would seem to be an option.

I've picked up a diary, which I'll ask the guys at the shop whether they could keep it behind the counter for groups who want to record what they are doing each week. Doubtless Graham will appreacite that!

Are people likely to be around on Monday at all? When I spoke to Adam, he said he might hang around the shop for a while and see who turns up, and not having access to the forums, I suspected Graham might be likely to make an appearance (unless something was decided on Wednesday). It seemed possible that might pretty much be it (possibly including myself).

Spoke to Adam yesterday, and he said he would be there; I, too, assume Graham will turn up; I'll be there. Sabrina and Mark won't be. I presume that if Richard asks at the shop, or reads this, he'll know waht we're up to and either show up or not depending on whwether he already has his new character sorted. So, 4 or 5?

I was thinking of maybe downloading a pre-written adventure off of the Wizards website, statting up some pre-gen characters, and maybe running it as a one-off? Or perhaps, if we do build some characters for STAP/Ptoringinal, run those through?

I'm not around until next wednesday when we can do some work on the Ptolus characters. Should be back around properly for the week after.

Though I might be around tonight, but I won't be. I can really only make one regular session a week, and that's going to be Mondays for now.
So- Mondays in store and Wednesdays should be ok for you guys at O'Neills or with the Magic guys at the Uni.
See y'all soon,
Adam

Well, I've realised why Cunning was a little lacking: Cunning's stats as rolled are equivalent to just a 22 point buy. Aulethea, by comparison, has stats that would require a 52 point buy! Even with Swordsage or Warblade classes, I don't think Cunning's got any chance of keeping up with the rest of the group...

Editted to add: After looking at Unearthed Aracana again, I am almost certain the AC bonus is calculated on total character level when multiclassing. The example given uses something like Ranger 2/Cleric 1 but takes the AC bonus of +7 from Column C, which is the bonus for a level 3 character.

Chris, would you consider the Unarmed Combat progression of the Swordsage listed in that classes Adaption section (Monks unarmed damage progression in place of light armour proficiency), and if so, would you rule that doing so also gains the Improved Unarmed Strike feat?

It's with an aim at attaining the prerequisite feats required to attain the Master of Nine Prestige Class.
